B&R Pools provides the certification classes you need to meet Pennsylvania’s commercial pool compliance – offered conveniently throughout the year.
- March 31/April 1 (Tues/Wed) – Certified Pool/Spa Operator (8:30 – 5:00)
- April 21-22 (Tues/Wed) – Certified Pool/Spa Operator (8:30 – 5:00)
- May 5 (Tues) – Pesticide Applicator (Category 24) Review/Exams (8:30 – 4:00)
- May 19-20 (Tues/Wed) – Certified Pool/Spa Operator (8:30 – 5:00)
- May 27 (Wed) – Pesticide Applicator (Category 24) Review/Exams (8:30 – 4:00)
- Tentative, September 2 – Pesticide Credits Seminar (9:00 – 3:00)
- Tentative, September 29-30 – Certified Pool/Spa Operator (8:30 – 5:00)
Allegheny County Requirements: A Certified Pool Operator & Bathing Place Manager must visit the facility once per day of operation. Valid for 5 years, class attendance & retesting are required to renew the CPO certification.
Pennsylvania State Requirements: Anyone adding a registered pesticide – such as chlorine, bromine or algaecide – to a commercial pool must hold a valid Pesticide Applicator license (Category 24). Certified applicators must earn continuing education credits every three years (and pay an annual fee) to maintain their certification.

Advance Registration is Required for All Classes:
- All class registrations must be PAID IN FULL via check or credit card at the time of registration.
- We cannot issue invoices for classes or hold a spot until payment is made.
- Registration closes 2 weeks before the class date.
- A blended format class is available for the CPO where you complete 8 hours of self-paced online training and attend in-person class on the 2nd day.
- A Spanish version of the CPO Handbook is available (the class will be delivered in English). Please contact us prior to registering.
- Pesticide exam sessions are for new or expired applicators only. This session is not approved for PA Pesticide credits. You should contact the PA Dept of Agriculture with questions before registering if you previously tested for or or held a PA pesticide applicator license.
- We reserve the right to cancel a class if a minimum threshold of 15 students is not met.
Cancellation, Substitution and Transfer Policy:
- You may request, in writing, to cancel your registration up to ten business days prior to your class start date and receive a refund, minus a materials and processing fee of $100 2-Day CPO, $150 CPO Fusion, $150 Pesticide.
- You may request to transfer to a later 2025 CPO class (up to 5 business days prior to your class start date), but you’ll need to pay a $75 transfer fee.
- Due to the strict capacity limits of pesticide exam sessions, we are unable to accommodate date changes.
- If you don’t show up for your class, you’ll forfeit your payment.
- You may request, in writing, to send a substitute registrant at any time for the CPO. The substitute MUST have the course materials that were mailed to the original registrant. Substitution within two weeks of the Pesticide exam requires approval by the PA Department of Agriculture.
